Chocolate and Romance by @JoanReeves #GemsInAttic

When you were young, did you receive one of those elegant heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, red roses, and jewelry for Valentine's Day?

I did not. Until I married my hero, my Darling Hubby. He made up for the years when I never had a romantic Valentine's Day.

Still, every Valentine's Day, I remember that longing in my young teen/young adult heart.

As a romance author, I've used that emotion...that longing..that desire for the overt expressions of romance that all the other girls seemed to receive.

In SCENTS AND SENSUALITY, a Valentine Romance, the story opens with my heroine, perfumer Amanda Whitfield, complaining loudly and long to her BFF that she can't get a date for her cousin's wedding which is scheduled for Valentine's Day. As if no one else has any plans for that day of romance.

A middle-aged woman eavesdropping on Amanda's conversation tells Amanda her son will be happy to escort her wedding. Not! This matchmaking mom is the catalyst for what follows.

A science nerd with a makeover courtesy of her BFF is desperate for a date to her snooty cousin's wedding.

A man happy with his flavor-of-the-month dating is desperate to put an end to his matchmaking mom's schemes. Desire with a side order of desperation creates captivating complications. Let the games begin!"

And, oh, do the games begin!

So back to the heart-shaped box of chocolates. SCENTS AND SENSUALITY ends on Valentine's Day. Does Amanda get her box of chocolates. You bet, and then some!

SCENTS AND SENSUALITY is an Amazon Exclusive.

My next story in which a heart-shaped box of chocolates appears is in A Moment in Time Romance Short Story Series.

BLAME IT ON CHOCOLATE

So how does a Valentine's box of chocolates enter into my short story romance BLAME IT ON CHOCOLATE?

Chloe Elliot's misadventure began when she and her sister-in-law were devouring the Valentine chocolates the s-i-l had received. After chocolate, wine, and a chick flick, Chloe dreamed up a scheme to let Hunter Cole know how she felt about him.

Chloe was the good girl. She’d never been a hell-raiser. Never gotten drunk, used drugs, smoked pot, or slept around. She didn’t even curse! Since her dad was the son of a minister and the oft-elected mayor, and her mom was the elementary school principal, she'd had no choice but to live a life above reproach. Truthfully, it really hadn’t been that difficult.

Until Hunter Cole returned to his home town.

Does Chloe get her heart-shaped box of chocolates? Chloe gets way more than she bargained for!

BLAME IT ON CHOCOLATE is available at: Amazon * iTunes * Nook * Kobo * Scribd *24Symbols * Playster * Smashwords.

The Real Question

Now we get down to the real issue. Will you get a romantic gift for Valentine's? Will I get my heart-shaped box of chocolates on Cupid's Day? Stay tuned. I'll let you know later this month.

I wish you a Happy Valentine's Day filled with wonderfully romantic gifts.

  1. My first box of Valentine candy was when my future hubby and I started dating. He’s a romantic as well.

  2. We don't do much for Valentine's. Sometimes, when I read about it, I kind of wish we did... Happy V Day to you!
